This book tells the story of Ethan Walker, who leaves Red Creek behind and ventures into the wider world. With courage and desire, he gains wealth, fame, and women in the city, only to be outmaneuvered in a larger business deal and ultimately lose his career, his health, and any place to call home. In his later years, he returns to the old family house and faces once again the ancient oak tree in the backyard, the very tree he once mocked.A tree never travels far in its lifetime, yet it witnesses people come and go, flowers bloom and fall. A person may travel the world, yet still fail to learn when to stop.
